Charles Damien Poirier (LeLievre) INVERNESS, NS - Charles Damien Poirier (LeLievre), 81, Inverness, passed away peacefully in Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital surrounded by his loving family, February 17, 2007. Born in Cap Rouge, Inverness Co., he was the son of the late Alcide Poirier and Marie (Bourgeois) (Poirier) LeLievre. Charlie worked for the Department of Public Works for the Town of Inverness and the Municipality of the County of Inverness until his retirement in 1990. He was a member of the Inverness Volunteer Fire Department for 28 years and served as Chief from 1982-1984. He was a member of Stella Maris Parish in Inverness. A creative and reputable mechanic, Charlie spent many years in his spare time servicing engines and vehicles from stock cars to classics. Following his retirement, he enjoyed a full life of simple pleasures, the presence of God, and the company of his children, grandchildren, relatives and friends. He relished playing cards (beating the girls), old cars, sharing stories and helping others. Charlie will live forever in the hearts of his beloved sister, Effie Rose (Allister, deceased) MacLeod, Riverview, N.B.; aunt, Julie Chiasson, Cheticamp; sons, Daniel (Anne), Gerry; daughters, Barbara (Willie) Sofan, Marilyn (Clifton) Sangster, all of Inverness; Rose Marie (John Roddie) MacPherson, Joanne (Donnie) MacPherson, both of Dunvegan, Inverness Co.; grandsons, Rodney, Danny, Jeff, Willie Joe, Charles, Rick, Archie and Sandy, and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Marie (White) (Inverness); son, Gerald Albert; brother, Johnny LeLievre (Inverness). Funeral service will take place Tuesday, February 20 at 11 a.m. in Stella Maris Church, Inverness, with Rev. Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Family flowers only. Donations may be made to the Stella Maris Parish Building Fund, Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital, Inverness, or the Inverness Volunteer Fire Department.
