Eileen Anne Forsythe

Eileen Anne Forsythe 1922 - 2007 Barb, Marion, George, Greg, Marty and Tom and their families announce the death of their much-loved mother, grandmother and great grandmother Eileen Forsythe, widow of their father George. Eileen, the daughter of the late Moses and Annie (Flemming) Coakley, was born in North East Margaree, Cape Breton on February 15th, 1922. She married her husband George on June 29th, 1943. As a military spouse, Eileen moved with her husband and family to Winnipeg, Soest, Germany, CFB Borden and CFB Gagetown! Eileen treasured the friendships made with many in the sporting world through George's involvement with sport! She was always aware of upcoming birthdays and wedding anniversaries and certainly ready to put the cards in the mail! For those who knew her, they will recall her gift for baking, namely her donuts, lemon or apple pies, cookies and squares! She kept active in her later years solving word puzzles. Eileen was so thankful to the many friends who visited her regularly while she was ill. Eileen was a devout member of the Roman Catholic Church. While her husband was serving at CFB Gagetown, the family actively attended St. Mary's Chapel at the Base. With retirement, the family worshipped from 1970 until recently at St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Oromocto by now attends St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Lincoln. During her illness Eileen watched Daily Mass on television. She is survived by her daughters, Barbara, with whom she resided in Haneytown, and Marion (David) Beers of Orangeville, Ontario; her sons, George (Sheila) of Hillsborough, Greg (Muriel) of Fredericton, Marty (Angela) of Burton and Tom (Sandy) of Thunder Bay, Ontario. Also surviving are her grandchildren, Frank (Cindy), Mike (Kim), Amanda and Darren, Dawn, Sheri, Jessica, Ryan and Jennifer (Scott) Smicer and Kyle Beers; and her great grandchildren, Alexia, Matthew, Sarah Forsythe and Alexander and Ben Smicer. Also surviving are her three sisters, Francie (Duncan) Gillis and Antoinette Smith in Toronto and Anita Carocci in Sydney, Cape Breton; many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews and friends also survive. Besides being predeceased by her parents and husband, Eileen was also predeceased by her brother, Robert; and sisters, Agnes, Marie Leudy, and Margaret White. Following her cremation, the family will receive relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi Parish, Lincoln on Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm and on Thursday, March 1st, 2007 from 2 to 4 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Parish on Thursday, March 1st, 2007 at 7:00 pm with a reception following at the church hall. Rev. Monte Peters officiating with Rev. Gerald White assisting. For those who wish, the family knows how much Eileen enjoyed the Daily Mass on TV from St. Michael's and suggest donations to the NCBC (National Catholic Broadcasting Council) be made or to a favourite charity.
