It is with great sorrow that we, the family announce the passing of our beloved mother, Cecilia Josephine MacNeil of Whitney Pier on Monday, March 9, 2009, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Whitney Pier, she was the daughter of the late David and Margaret (Hayes) Piercey.
She is survived by her children, daughters, Cheryl (Jimmy) MacDonald, Heather, Glennis (Robert) Collins; and one son, Scott (Beth); grandchildren, Bobby MacDonald, Allyson and Stephen MacNeil and Emily and Ashley Collins; great-grandchildren, Shamus and Chelsea MacDonald; siblings, Robert Piercey, Theresa (Harry) MacDonald and Margaret (John) Hickey; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Cecilia was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, John J. ’Juppy’ MacNeil, brother, Frank Piercey, and sister, Christina (Ross) Rudderham.
There will be no visitation for Cecilia MacNeil as per her request. Funeral mass will be celebrated Thursday, March 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Holy Redeemer Church with Rev. Errol MacDonald officiating.
Donations in her memory may be made to Transition House or the Holy Redeemer Building Fund.
