KOESTER – Allison Margaretta (Olson)
March 30, 1944 – March 6, 2009
It is with great sadness and sorrow that the family of Allison Margaretta (Olson) Koester announces her passing at the Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on Friday, March 6, 2009 surrounded by family and friends. The youngest of three children, Allison was born and raised in Prince Albert. She attended PACI and continued on to Teacher’s College in Saskatoon. Allison returned to Prince Albert and began working for the City of Prince Albert’s Recreation Department. In September of 1967 she married her husband Bill. In 1971 they moved to Calgary where Allison worked for VWRI which involved working with the mentally challenged. In January of 1972 their son Jason was born, and in 1974 Allison, Bill and Jason returned to Prince Albert. In June of 1975, Allison began her career as a social service worker at the Community Service Centre and the Ministry of Social Services, until her untimely passing. Allison was a very warm, caring, compassionate worker who always had her clients’ best interest at heart. Allison was very community minded. Over the years, she belonged to many clubs and organizations contributing whole heartedly to each. She was a life member of Beta Sigma Phi; a life member of the Prince Albert Kinette Club; a member of K-40 and a member of the Prince Albert Diabetic Association. Allison was a true volunteer; who was always willing to assist individuals and organizations with any of their ventures and fund raisers. The cottage at Christopher Lake was their summer home where Allison entertained family and friends. This is where she showed off her green thumb with the many potted plants and flower beds she planted. Family and friends were very important to Allison and she treasured her time with them. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 41 years, Bill; her son Jason of Calgary, AB; sisters Neva Stevenson of San Diego, CA and Signe (Tom) Ferris; brother-in-law David (Trudy) Koester; and sisters-in-law Bobbie ( Don) White and Denise (Brian) Taylor all of Prince Albert, SK. She is also survived by many nieces, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, relatives and friends. Allison will be missed by all whose lives she touched. Allison was predeceased by her parents Audine (Allison) and Axel Olson; her father-in-law Robert “Bob†Koester; her mother-in-law Kathleen (Cook) Koester and her brother-in-law Carey Stevenson. Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 13, 2009 at St. Alban’s Cathedral, 1410 Bishop McLean Crescent, Prince Albert, SK with Reverend Ken Lyons officiating.
