Margaret Patricia (Pat) Jones BEDFORD, NS - Margaret Patricia (Pat) Jones, 63, of Bedford, NS passed away on April 22, 2007 at the QEII Health Sciences Centre (VG site), Halifax, NS. Born in Newcastle, NB, she was the daughter of Rita Patterson, Miramichi, NB and the late Elmer Patterson. Pat grew up in Loggieville, NB. Pat was a graduate of Chatham High School (NB) and the NB Teachers' College. Her teaching career was in NB and BC. A stay-at-home mom, she involved herself as a volunteer in numerous of her sons' activities both at their schools and in their community. Once her family was grown she had a career in ladies retail, one which she thoroughly enjoyed as she chatted with her customers suggesting to them what would and would not suit them. Pat's love for her family was paramount in her life. Her grandson was the joy of her life. Pat was a very creative person, one who turned her hand to a variety of projects from sewing, home decorating, gardening, cooking and painting to carpentry, the latter a skill she put into action to guide her husband through many renovation and building projects. Pat valued knowledge and was an avid reader. Pat valued her many friends across the North American continent and in Great Britain. Pat was a gracious hostess always welcoming people to her home. Friends describe her as kind, caring, loving, thoughtful, and intuitive and always ready to 'have a good time'. She and her husband would have celebrated 42 years of marriage in a few months time. Never once with her struggles with cancer through the years did she lose hope and her desire to live and enjoy life to the fullest. She met each challenge with courage, determination and the will to live. She and her husband travelled extensively prior to the past nine months. Her wish was to live long enough to dance at her grandson's wedding. In spirit she will. Pat will be missed by her family and all who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Arnold G. Jones; sons, Patrick (Yoshiko), Osaka, Japan, Peter (Heather), Bridgewater, NS; sister, Lee Cooper (Jim Stevenson), Sussex, NB; brother, Rick (Jackie), Miramichi (Loggieville), NB; grandchild, McAulay Gray Jones; one niece; one nephew and aunts and uncles. Predeceased by one son, Jeffrey Patterson; father and one brother, David Visitation will be on Friday, April 27, Bedford United Church, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Bedford United Church, Saturday, April 28, 2007 at 2 PM with Rev. William Titus and Rev. Diane Tingley officiating. Interment in Brookside Cemetery, Bedford, family only, on Saturday April 28, 2007. Family flowers only; donations to the Canadian Cancer Society, the Heart and Stroke Foundation, the Diabetic Association, Heather Jones' Relay for Life Team, 194 Homestead Estates Drive, RR#1, Italy Cross, Nova Scotia, B0J 1V0 or a charity of the donor's choice.
