Max C. Phalen 1913 - 2007 The death of Max Phalen, 93 years, occurred at The Moncton Hospital on Tuesday, April 24th, 2007. Born in Amherst, NS, July 13th, 1913 he was the son of the late Percy and Leita (Pickram) Phalen. He is survived by his son, Harold (Alison) Phalen of Fredericton; one sister, Pauline Nelson; his brother, Douglas (Renee) Phalen; two grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rebecca. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife, Grace (Lewis); sisters, Doris, Verona, Kay, Eileen and Norma. A businessman, Max had owned and operated Phalen's Restaurant on St George St. in Moncton during the 1940s. He also ran a variety store in Riverview for years as well as being the manager of the Par Three Golf Course on the Shediac Road. An accomplished golfer he had been a member of the Moncton Golf and Country Club as well as Mountain Ridge Golf Club. It was Max's wish that there not be any visiting hours or public funeral service. A private family graveside service will be held at a later date. For those who wish, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick, the Canadian Cancer Society or the memorial of the donor's choice.
