(February 14th, 1942 to March 6th, 2009)— Passed suddenly away surrounded by his loving family at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital on Friday, March 6th, 2009. Gil was a retired employee of MUN. Predeceased by his parents Walter and Gwen Chafe, infant granddaughter Leah 1993, stepfather Josh Coombs, his mother-in-law Mary Christopher, father-in-law John Christopher and brother-in-law John Christopher. Leaving to mourn wife of 44 years Selina (Lena), his devoted children Rodney, Johnny (Ruth) Billy, Trevor, Gilly (Marlaina), Debbie Pike (Rod), five grandchildren: Krystle, Kayla, Adam, Jonathan, Brady; sisters Marg (Reid) Edward, Maureen (Drover) Ray (Upper Island Cove), brothers-in-law: Steve Christopher (Mercedes), Patty (Darlene) B.C., Dick (Linda), Bernie (Kathy Deceased), sisters-in-law: Mary Kerrivan, Georgina Christopher, Bernadette Doyle (Pat) his buddy, Aunt Dot and family and friends in England and Newfoundland and special friend Terry Rideout. A special thanks to the staff of St. Clare’s CCU and Emergency for such wonderful care. Resting at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 328 Hamilton Avenue on Monday, March 9th and Tuesday, March 10th from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Funeral service to take place from the St. Patrick’s Church on Wednesday, March 11th at 9:30 a.m. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
