Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Francheville

Mary Elizabeth (Betty) Francheville 1926-2007 It is with great sadness and loss that the family announces the death of Betty on Wednesday evening, June 6, 2007 in Moncton. Betty died at home peacefully and with grace after a courageous three year battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her loving family. In addition to her parents Harry and Mildred Carey, she was predeceased by her husband Murray Francheville in 1994 and her brother Henry (Bud) Carey. She is survived by her three children, Christine Fagan (Vladimir), Janice Francheville and Henry Francheville (Kelly). Her beloved grandchildren are Jennie, Carey, Jordon, Alex, Christopher and Erin. Betty's only sister, Janice Young and brother-in-law, Aubrey Young were in Moncton with the family at the time of her death. She is fondly missed as well by sister-in-law Christine Gillis and Mildred Carey and great-aunt Eleanor Reid, together with nieces and nephews, all of whom were special to her. Beyond family, she will be missed by a wide circle of friends. Betty grew up in downtown Moncton attending Mountain Road School and graduating from Moncton High School. She worked in accounting positions with Swifts and Canadian National Railways before leaving the workforce to raise her family. She subsequently worked in returning offices in Federal and Provincial elections, and also acted as a campaign co-ordinator for the Heart Foundation. Time was found later in life to become active volunteering in Municipal, Provincial and Federal elections. She valued her association with the Catholic Womens' League (CWL), Moncton Womens' Liberal Association, and Imperial Order of the Daughters of the Empire (IODE). All of these activities brought Betty into contact with a wide mix of people. This interaction and the many friendships it brought were key to her love of life. Betty was a trusted and close friend to many including her relatives of all ages. Her selfless investment in people was repaid by the great care and support shown to her over the past few years. Betty was appreciative, as is her family, for the caring support that she received from her friends, health caregivers and Extra Mural nurses and staff. Also appreciated is the kind medical help provided by Doctors E. Morrison, A.Shaikh, and P. Mansfield. Father Allison Carroll and St. Bernard's congregation gave welcome spiritual support. Visitation with Betty's family is at St. Bernard's Church on Sunday, June 10, 2007 from 2:00 to 4:00, and 7:00 to 9:00. The funeral service will be held at St. Bernard's Church on Monday, June 11, 2007 at 11:00 am.
