Joan M. Trites 1932-2007 Joan M. Trites, 74, of Ammon, with her loving husband at her side, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at her home on Saturday, September 1, 2007. Born in Amherst, NS, she was the daughter of the late Leslie and Mabel (Chambers) Atkinson. Joan graduated from St. Charles Commercial, Amherst, worked as a stenographer at the T. Eaton Co. and Canadian Oil and before her retirement she was employed as a Ward Clerk at the Moncton Hospital. Joan was a member of Stilesville United Church and the N. B. Seniors Federation. An avid bowler with the Seniors Bowlarama (Thursday League) and enjoyed traveling with the Bowlarama Bowling Bus Tours with her friends and family. Joan was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. Her family has many fond memories of enjoying her fabulous cooking, conversation, piano playing and her wonderful smile. Joan was the much loved wife of Carl Trites for 53 years; mother of Nancy Dooley (Seamus), Marilyn Steeves (Scott), both of Moncton; adored grandmother of Colin and Claire Dooley, Sydney and Lauren Steeves. Also survived by her brother, Harold Atkinson, Moncton; sister-in-law, Evelyn Atkinson, Pembroke, ON; brother-in-law, George McKenzie, South Burlington, Vermont; several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sister, Nancy McKenzie and brother, Kenneth Atkinson. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton (858-1995), Tuesday, 2 to 4 & 7 to 9. The family invites all of their relatives and friends to a celebration of Joan's life with them at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Wednesday, September 5, 2007, 11:00 am, Rev. Harold MacDonald officiating. Reception following the service. Interment Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
