Gwen Saunders

Gwen Saunders PETITCODIAC, NB - Gwen Saunders, 86, wife of the late Dudley (Tim) Saunders of Petitcodiac, died Tuesday morning, September 25, 2007, at The Moncton Hospital. Born in Muir, Manitoba, daughter of the late Charles and Minnie (Bedford) Rosling, she spent most of her adult life on Tim's family farm in Pleasant Vale, Albert County, NB, where she and Tim raised a family of six children. During the Second World War, she served in the Royal Canadian Air Force - Women's Division, at MacDonald Air Force Base near Portage la Prairie, where she met her future husband, who was also in the service. A past president of the Ladies Auxiliary, Petitcodiac Branch No. 41, Royal Canadian Legion, she was also an active member of that Legion branch. She was an avid cribbage player in her later years, and had many good friends and neighbours in the village. Gwen is survived by her six children, Dudley (Sharron), Kingston, ON, Ken (Linda), Riverview, NB, Stuart (Joyce), Petitcodiac, Clayton (Cindy), Barnesville, NB, Peggy MacNeil (Tony), Moncton, and Joanne Brown (Doug), Forest Glen, NB; 11 grandchildren, Michael and Cheri Saunders, Jenne and Sara Saunders, Shane and Carly Saunders, Timothy Saunders, Tammy MacLeod Dottin, Lynsey Dawn MacNeil, Jason and Victoria Brown; six great grandchildren, Michael, Scott, Kristina, Jeremy, Chelsey and Cohen; and one brother, Art Rosling of Gladstone, Manitoba. Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Armstrong's Funeral Home, Petitcodiac where visiting hours will be held Thursday from 7 to 9pm. The Royal Canadian Legion will be holding a memorial service at the funeral home, Thursday at 6:45pm. The funeral service will be held from Armstrong's Funeral Home on Friday, September 28, 2007 at 1:30pm, Rev. C. Youland officiating. Burial held at Maplewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or Parkinson's Society would be appreciated. www.armstrongsfh.com
