Roger N. LeBlanc, Ret. Maj. Roger N. LeBlanc, Ret. Maj., 84, of Amirault Street, Dieppe, died suddenly at home on Thursday, October 18, 2007. Born December 4, 1922 in Moncton, he was the son of the late Alderic and Nathalie (LeBlanc) LeBlanc. Roger was passionate about life and had many interests. One of the highlights of his younger years was the time he served overseas in WWII in the RCAF from 1942 to 1945. He was active in his community over the years serving as a member of the Saint Anselme Consolidated School Board, elected secretary treasurer of the Local Improvement District Saint Anselme, Municipal Counselor for 2 terms and from 1957 to 1970 as member of the RCAF reserves in various capacities retiring in 1970 as CO for 650 Vanier Air Cadet Squadron. He was also very active in the Credit Union movement in various capacities at Swift's and OMISTA, one of which was serving on the board of directors of OMISTA for 30 years. He worked at Swift's for 22 years and retired from the federal public service after 19 years. His life was an active one; he in earlier years was an avid curler, tennis player, x-country skier and later attended the Healthy Heart program at the CEPS of UdeM. He loved to travel to sunny places especially with his wife, Joan. He is survived by his five children, Sharon LeBlanc (Dave DeWolfe) of Chester, NS, Peter (Angie) of Grand-Barachois, Joseph 'Joe' (Lisa) of Courtenay, BC, Diane Johnson (Terry) of Grande-Digue, James 'Jim' (Michelle) of Edmonton, AB; he very much enjoyed his 10 grandchildren who will sadly miss him, Christine, Stephanie, Mathieu, Jade, Kyle, Jared (LeBlanc), Patrick, Julie (Johnson), Lydia, Dannan (LeBlanc); five brothers, John (Doreen) and Valmore of Moncton, Rev. Rhéal of St. Catharine's ON, Brother Bernard of Laval, QC,, Dr. Philippe (Diana) of Guelph, ON, a sister, Jeannine Lalonde (Alfred) of Laval, QC; many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was pre-deceased by the love of his life, Joan (Driscoll); his brothers and sister, Paul, René and Cecile. Resting at Frenette Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). The funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 23, 2007, at Saint-Anselme Roman Catholic Church, Dieppe. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Visiting hours Monday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until departure (10:45). At the request of the family, memorial donations to the NB Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
