Fishley, Gilbert Earl
Passed away on Wednesday, March 11, 2009 at Extendicare in Moose Jaw. Earl , at the age of 91, beloved husband of Beatrice for over 55 years, predeceased by his parents, and his brothers Clarence in Belgium (1945) and Chet (1981). Loving father of Garnet, Trevor (Jackie), Holly (Bill) Janzen and Larry (Sheila). Cherished grandfather of Ashley (Sean), Riley, Tyler, Ryan, Dayna, Brianne (Adam), Josh, Brooke and Lexie. He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters, Muriel Staples, and Verna MacDonald, brothers in-law Roy and Ross Mountenay, and sister in-law Lila. He will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Earl was born in Bethune SK, to Albert and Edith Fishley on November 29, 1917. He grew up on the family farm but left to serve his country faithfully during WWII. He was proud to serve his country, and remained an active legion member until recently. He returned to farm following the war and was married to Beatrice in 1957. The couple raised their 4 children on the farm in the Waldorf District near Bethune but later moved to Moose Jaw in 1978. Even following their move to Moose Jaw, Earl and Beatrice remained active on the farm until its sale in 2003. Friends are invited to call at Parkview Funeral chapel, on Sunday March 15, 2009 from 2-4 p.m for a time of visitation. A funeral Service will be held on Monday, March 17, 2009 at the Bethune Community Hall, Bethune with an interment to follow at Bethune Cemetery. Rev. Marvin Seaborg officiating. Memorial donations to the Lung association or to the Kinsmen Telemiracle fund.
