Patricia Lila Lee SACKVILLE, NB - Patricia Lila Lee passed away January 25, 2008 at Sackville Memorial Hospital surrounded by loving friends and students who supported her through her short illness. Professor emeritus Lee was a highly respected singer and musician who taught voice in the Music Department of Mount Allison University from 1982 to 1999. Patricia was born in 1934 in Odessa, Washington to Leslie Ward Lee, Supt of Schools, and Zella Green, a music instructor. Prior to joining the Mount Allison faculty Ms Lee received her Masters degree in Music from the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston. After moving to New York City in 1960, she soloed with the Amato Opera Theatre, was accepted into the Metropolitan Opera's Young Company, which toured the U.S. and Mexico, and joined the chorus of the Metropolitan Opera when it opened its new venue at Lincoln Center. In addition, Ms Lee taught voice privately in Sackville and also Amherst, Nova Scotia. Surviving are her half-sister, Margaret Fea; nephews, Daniel, David and Ronald Lee and Thomas Fea; nieces, Lori Gilmore, Kathy Grey and Barbara Hull; and grand and great-grand nieces and nephews. She was predeceased in death by her parents, L.W. and Zella Lee; a brother, Robert S. Lee; and half-brother, Leslie W. Lee. Cremation has taken place under the supervision of Jones Funeral Home, Sackville (364-1300) and burial will be beside her parents in Spokane, WA. By her request there will be no funeral or visitation. However, there is a reception on Tuesday, 4:30 to 6:30, for friends, guests and former colleagues at the Mount Allison University President's Cottage. A scholarship fund will be set up.
