William E. "Bill" Stone Jr. William E. "Bill" Stone Jr., 84, Dartmouth, died peacefully on February 23, 2008, in the VG Site, QEII. During his time in hospital, prior to his death, his family had time to visit, reminisce, and celebrate his life. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Mary A. (Fahie) and William E. Stone Sr. Bill started his 45 year career with CN/CP Telecommunications riding his bicycle delivering telegrams. He moved to the clerical office, then worked as an installer, traveling throughout the Atlantic provinces, finally finishing in Moncton as Wire Chief. He lived for a number of years in Moncton and returned to Halifax after retirement. Bill was an avid sports fan of all sports and an astute card player of all card games. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, the former Elizabeth "Betty" Ann Quinn; sons, Brian (Annette), Timothy (Diane), Moncton; daughters, Nancy and Sharon, at home; Ann- Marie (Peter Eisenbach), Thunder Bay, Kathleen (Greg Hupman), Moncton, Carol (Alan Shea), Saint John; sisters, Marie Nunn, Halifax, Betty Hindle, Aylmer, Que, Aileen Irvine, Kingston, Ont.; brothers, Perry (Norma) and Frank, Halifax, Kent (Marie), Moncton; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. He was predeceased by son, Richard; grandson, Brandon Hupman; and great-grandson, Austin Stone; brother, Dick; half-brother, Earl Stone; sisters, Anne Bourgeois, Agnes Clarke, Isabel McCarthy, Muriel Flinn, Jean; and a brother and sister in infancy. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, Halifax, and there will be no visitation by request. A funeral mass will be celebrated in St. Theresa's church on North Street at 10 am on Wednesday, February 27, Father Roberto Donato officiating. Reception to follow in the church hall. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Lower Sackville. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
