Joan E. Steeves Joan E. Steeves, 77, of Shediac Cape, with her loving family at her side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Saturday March 8, 2008. Born in Moncton, Joan was the daughter of the late Dr. Charles Richard and Margaret (Appelton) Baxter. Joan was a retired registered nurse who graduated high school from Kings Edgehill in Windsor, NS and she graduated from the Jeffrey Hale Hospital School of Nursing in Quebec City. She was always very active within the community, member of UCW, member of IODE in Moncton and Saint John, board member of VON Moncton, actively involved with The Friends of The Moncton Hospital, former board member of the DVA Hospital in Saint John, member of PC Women's Association and was a member of Shediac Walkers and Talkers. Joan had a passion for nursing, she enjoyed playing bridge and she loved spending quality time with her family and friends. Joan will be sadly missed by her loving husband, Harold Steeves, Shediac Cape; daughter, Margaret Elizabeth Steeves, Toronto, ON; sons, Rod Steeves (Susan), Shediac Cape, Leighton Steeves (Gylian), Moncton; grandchildren, John and Jennifer, both of Shediac Cape; brothers, Charles Baxter (Marion), Halifax, NS, John Baxter (Judy), Shediac Cape and Indiana, Brian Baxter (Victoria), Shediac Cape; several nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Joan was predeceased by sister, Margaret (Tish) Goddard; brother, Walter Baxter; sister in law, Barb Baxter. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Rd., Moncton (858-1995), Wednesday March 12, 2008, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. Funeral Service at St. John's United Church, 75 Alma St., Moncton, Thursday March 13, 2008, 2:30pm; Rev. Leander Mills officiating; Reception following the service; Interment, Greenwood Cemetery, Shediac.
