Douglas F. Hawkes Douglas F. Hawkes, 70, of Moncton, with his loving family by his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Monday, March 17, 2008. Born in Moncton, he was the son of the late Leslie and Maisie (O'Boyle) Hawkes. Doug worked within the construction industry and was a former employee of CNR (former Union Rep) as a crane operator and in Stores. He also taught and competed in Judo for many years and in his younger years was awarded the Queen Scout. An outdoorsman, Doug was an avid hunter, fisherman and loved nature, but first and foremost was his love for his family and friends. Doug will be sadly missed by his first wife, Betty Hawkes (Sherwood) and by his daughters, Stephanie Ann Munson (Charles), Lyons, NY, Shelly Bernard (Paul), Moncton; son, Mark Hawkes (Terry), Fall River, NS; five grandchildren, Matthew, Melanie, Amanda, Nicholas, Madison; two great grandchildren, Nathaniel, Bailey; brother, Irving Hawkes (Kathryn), Moncton; sister, Goldie LeBlanc, Hopewell Hill; nephews, Troy Hawkes (Michelle), Saint John, Jason Hawkes (Jill), Truro, NS; second wife, Linda and children, Annette, Andy, Angela. The family will receive family and friends at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road (858-1995), Wednesday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. A celebration of Doug's life will be held at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Thursday, March 20, 2008, 11:30 am, Rev. Chris VanBuskirk officiating. Reception following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Friends of the Moncton Hospital, Palliative Care or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick would be appreciated by the family.
