North Sydney It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father and brother, George Hiscock, a resident of Seaview Drive, North Sydney, on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at the Northside General Hospital. Born in North Sydney, he was a son of the late Harry and Amelia (Annesty) Hiscock. George was a veteran of the Second World War serving overseas with the Canadian Army. After returning home from the war, George spent a brief time operating a store on the corner of Victoria and Regent streets in North Sydney. He would then return to serving his country with the Canadian Armed Forces as an auto mechanic, retiring back to North Sydney, after 32 years of service. George was a quiet man, content to spend his retirement working at home and spending time with his family. He was an adherent of St. Matthew Wesley United Church, North Sydney. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Ellis) Hiscock; his daughter, Brenda and son, Keith, both of North Sydney and brothers, Jim and Fred, both of P.E.I. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary, Rita and Mildred, and by brothers, Harry and Roy. There will be no visitation by request. A graveside committal service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 5 at Lakeside Cemetery North Sydney, with Rev. Genevieve Trudel officiating.
