Jean Baptiste "John" Melanson 1920 - 2008 John Melanson, 87, of Cocagne, has passed away after a brief illness at the Dr-Georges L Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Wednesday, April 30th, 2008. Born in Cocagne on December 29th, 1920, he was the son of the late Donat and the late Édorine (Landry) Melanson. He is survived by his wife, Rita Cormier; three daughters, Jeannette Breau (Donald) of Grande-Digue, Gloria Cormier (Lauria) of Sainte- Marie de Kent, Linda Robichaud (Fernand) of Cocagne, three sons; Roger (Rose-May) of Saint-Antoine, Rhéal (Monique) of Cocagne, Maurice of Lakeville; twelve grandchildren; six great grandchildren; four sisters, Laura Allain (Alcide) of Moncton, Jeannine Daigle (Joseph) of Dieppe, Léona Blandford (Max) of North York, ON, Doris Goguen (Ron) of Saint- Edouard de Kent; four brothers, Albert (Noella) of Dieppe, Eloi (Dorilla) of Cocagne, Bobby (Germaine) of Saint-Antoine, Paul (Eileen) of Saint- Thomas de Kent, and several nephews and nieces. John was predeceased by three sons, René, Jean-Paul, Donald; two sisters, Zella, Anna, and three brothers, Léandre, Joe, and Jack. John was a retired Fisheries Officer, and a WW 11 veteran. He was a member of the Cocagne Golden Age Club, and of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43 Bouctouche. Visitation will be held at the Saint-Pierre Roman Catholic Church Slumber Room, Cocagne on Friday May 2nd, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 and Saturday from 9:30 to 11:15 am. Funeral Mass will be held at the church in Cocagne on Saturday May 3rd, at 11:30 am. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. In John's memory, donations can be made to the Dr Georges L.
