76, River Ryan Theresa Adele Madden, 76, of River Ryan passed away Sunday, Nov. 2, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in New Victoria, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Cybil (Petrie) Murphy. She was a woman of strong faith who was an active member of the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Michael Church, River Ryan. One of her favourite pastimes was writing poetry. Survivng are her husband, Elmer Madden; daughter, Shauna Madden, River Ryan; son, Todd Madden, British Columbia; brothers, Evans (Tilly) Murphy, Scotchtown, Thomas Murphy, New Victoria; sisters, Gerry McInnis, New Waterford, Jackie (Hughie) McManus, Ontario, Claire (Bill) Donahoe, New Victoria, Carol (Tony) Mulder, British Columbia. Theresa was predeceased by a brother, Delman Murphy, sisters, Norma Hyson, Sr. Claudia Murphy and Cybil Ann Murphy. At the family's request there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass to celebrate Theresa's life will be held Saturday, Nov. 8 at 11 a.m. in the Parish of St. Leonard, St. Michael Church with Fr. Doug MacDonald officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, New Victoria, with a reception to follow at St. Agnes Parish Hall. All are welcome. Donations in her memory may be made to a charity of one's choice.
