James "Jim" Ivan Godfrey

James "Jim" Ivan Godfrey 1938-2008 Jim Godfrey, 70, of Edgett's Landing passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 13, 2008 at the Moncton Hospital with his family by his side. Jim was born in Edgett's Landing on February 6, 1938, the son of Minerva Godfrey. He was a faithful member of the Valley Baptist Church. He worked for the Province of New Brunswick, Natural Resources Department as a Forest Ranger for 38 years. He retired in 2001. He enjoyed educating young hunters and taught the Hunters Safety Program for years. He taught wildlife and forestry lessons in various school. He was also a member of the Albert County Hunter's Association. Jim always met everyone with a smile and will be remembered for his great sense of humour. He enjoyed his 4-wheeler, watching Nascar and following hockey. He also enjoyed softball and was a local umpire in Hillsborough. Above all things, he was a family man. Jim would do anything for his grandchildren and they knew it. His face would light up as soon as they walked through the door. He truly set an example of how a husband, dad and grampie should be. He will never be forgotten and will live on in the hearts of his family forever. "What we keep in memory is ours forever". He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife and best friend, Jean (Murray) Godfrey; his cherished daughters, Wendy Pearson (Jeff) of Riverview and Donna Godfrey (Darren Llewellyn) of Edgett's Landing; by his treasured grandchildren, Jeffrey Pearson of Calgary, Chris Pearson (Jennifer) of Riverview, Scott Pearson (fiance Amanda) of Riverview, Nick Pearson (Heather) of Moncton, Emma and Liam Llewellyn both of Edgett's Landing; and by his great grand- children. He was predeceased by his mother, Minerva in 1994. He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Friday from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. The funeral service will be held at the Valley Baptist Church on Saturday, May 17, 2008 at 3:00pm with Pastor Jim Alley officiating. Interment will be in the Hopewell Cemetery, Hopewell Hill, N.B. For those who wish donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, Canadian Diabetes Association, the Valley Baptist Church Floor Fund or to the charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
