84, Sydney Albert Fraser Abbott of Taylor Street, Sydney, passed away Monday Nov. 3, 2008, at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital. Born in Bonavista, N.L., he was the son of the late Andrew and Isabella (Keel) Abbott. Albert was a former elder of Trinity United Church, Whitney Pier, and a former member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, Sydney. In 1984, he retired from Sydney Steel where he worked in the No. 3 boiler house. Surviving are his wife, Blanche (Etsell); daughter, April (Bob) Moore, Port Hastings; sister, Dorothy Russell, Bonavista; and grandchildren, Kyle and Jordan. Albert was predeceased by his brothers, Ray, Sidney and John. Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, Thursday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held in Trinity United Church, Friday, 2 p.m., with Rev. Jackie MacDonald officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens. Following the service a reception will be held in the church hall. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
