Early W. Mitton
Early W. Mitton Early W. Mitton, 91, of People's Park Tower and formerly of Ayer Avenue, Moncton, passed away peacefully at the Moncton Hospital on Thursday, June 5th, 2008. Born in Middle Coverdale, he was the son of the late William and Louise (Jonah) Mitton. Early was a retired C.N.R. Locomotive Engineer with 37 years service; a member of Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, where he served on various boards and committees over the past years; a member of the B of L.E., past Chairman of the Grievance Committee of #162, past General Secretary Treasurer of the B of L.E. General Committee, Canadian National Lines East. He was a Registered Guide for the Province of New Brunswick and was a Veteran of WWII, having served as a driver mechanic with the RCAF (1940 - 1943). He was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener, and enjoyed needlework, woodworking (grandfather clocks and fine crafted wood tables). Early will be sadly missed by his son, Lorne (Audrey) Mitton, Bobcaygeon, ON; sister, Evelyn Walsh, Upper Coverdale; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, predeceased by his wife, Charlotte (Young) Mitton (September 2006); brother, Harold; sister, Celia. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Sunday, 2 to 4, 7 to 9. Moncton Legion #6 Veterans Service, Sunday, 4pm. Funeral service, Glad Tidings Pentecostal Church, Mountain Road, Monday, June 9, 2008, 2:00 pm, Rev. Sterling Penney officiating. Reception following the service.
