Brenda Evelyn LeBlanc 1944 - 2008 It is with great sadness that the family of Brenda LeBlanc announces her passing on June 17, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with cancer with family at her side. Brenda was the daughter of the late Rita (née: LeBlanc) and the late Eloi Gautreau. She was born in Petawawa, Ontario but raised in Dieppe (Saint-Anselme), NB. She was a loving wife to the late Roger "Hibou" LeBlanc (2006), caring mother to daughter, Lise of NS and son, René of Bermuda and devoted grandmother to Matthew. She is survived by one sister, Gisele Surette (Louis) of Dieppe; her mother-in-law, Osithe LeBlanc; many in-laws, nieces and nephews. Brenda's first passion was her work as Councillor for the Dieppe City Council. She was first elected in 1995 and re-elected in 1998, 2001 and 2004. During her time on Council, she participated as Councillor, Councillor-at-Large and Deputy Mayor (1998-1999 and 2001-2002). She also participated in many committees such as the Joint Committee on Health and Safety, the Dieppe Public Library Commission, the Accessibility Committee, Tri-Community Santa Claus Parade Committee, Greater Moncton Pest Control Commission, Water & Sewer Committee-City of Moncton and the working Committee for outside fires in residential areas and worked hard on many projects. She took great pride in her work as Liaison Councillor to the Fire Department. She held them in great respect for the work that they do. Brenda had a strong voice for the citizens of Dieppe. She was known for her fiery spirit and fought hard for her riding and all the people of Dieppe. Brenda worked towards transparency for the public to increase their confidence in the system. She touched the lives of so many people. Brenda loved working in her flower garden, reading, travelling, shopping trips and being with her family. She took great delight in her only grandchild, Matthew. Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, NB, 857-1901, on Sunday June 22nd 2008 from 7 to 9 pm, on Monday, June 23rd from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at Saint-Anselme Roman Catholic Church, on Tuesday, June 24th 2008 at 11 am. Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB. Donations to the Dr. Georges-L. Dumont Hospital "Tree of Hope"or the Friends of the Moncton Hospital "Palliative care unit" would be greatly appreciated by the family. www.chartersville.com
