James 'Jim' Ford

1939-2008 Glace Bay It is with deep regret that we announce the passing of our dear father, grandfather and brother, James R. Ford, 'Pops', age 69 of Atlantic Street, Glace Bay. Jim passed away on Friday, Nov. 7, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Complex. Born in Glace Bay, he was the loving son of the late William and Jessie (Whiting) Ford. Jim was a devoted member of Holy Cross parish. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He was employed as an operator with the CBRM fire department, Glace Bay, and was a member of the IAFF, Local 2779. He will be sadly missed by his daughter, Lisa, son, James, grandchildren, Mallory, Tiffany, Danielle and Dylan; brothers, Billy, David (Sharon); sisters, Margaret, Theresa, Helen, Lorraine (David McKillop), Ruth, Carol, Linda (Ernie Billard). Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Sheila (Simmons), brother, Paul, sisters, Catherine, Mary, Rita, Anne Shirley and Anne Jovita. Visitation for Jim Ford will be held Saturday evening from 7-9 p.m. and Sunday 2-4, 7-9 p.m. at V.J.McGillvray Funeral Home, 16 Reserve St., Glace Bay. A funeral mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in Holy Cross Church, Glace Bay, with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating. Interment will be in St. Anne's Cemetery. Reception to follow at the Glace Bay fire hall. Family flowers only please. Donations may be made to the Cancer Society.
