Jean-Paul Gallant

Jean-Paul Gallant 1940 - 2008 Moncton - Jean-Paul Gallant, 68, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on August 4th at the Georges L.Dumont Hospital after a long courageous battle with cancer. Born in Grande-Digue, on April 17, 1940 he was the son of the late Willie T. Gallant and the late Marguerite Léger. He worked at l'Université de Moncton for over 30 years. He attended the Notre-Dame-de-la-Paix Roman Catholic Church and was a member of the Club d'ge d'Or of Humphrey. Jean-Paul enjoyed spending time with his family and loved attending his grandchildren's sporting activities. He walked every day, loved ballroom dancing, liked to travel with his wife and was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadians. He is survived by his wife, Alfreda Gallant (Savoie); two sons, Jean-Charles (Margot) and René (Dominique) of Moncton; one daughter, Francine Cormier (Paul) of Moncton; five brothers, Charles Gallant (Bernadette) of Fort Myers, Florida, Léonard Gallant of Moncton, Adrien Gallant (Corinne) of Cocagne, Clarence Gallant (Annette) of Grande-Digue, Armand Gallant (Maria) of St-Antoine; one sister, Edmée Gallant (late Gérard) of Notre-Dame; five grandchildren, Jérémie, Benjamin, Janelle, Christian, Jean-Michel; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Gérard Savoie (Florence). Resting at Passage Funeral Co-operative, 3754, Route 134, Shediac Bridge, with visiting hours on Thursday, August 7th, from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm. No viewing on Friday morning. Funeral Service will be held at La Visitation Grande-Digue on Friday, August 8th at 10:30am. If so desired donations to the Oncology Dept. Georges L. Dumont or donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
