Kathryn ConstanceThompson 1916-2008 Kathryn, age 92, wife of the late Earl Thompson, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, August 29th, 2008. Kathryn was born and grew up Tabusintac, NB., second daughter of Duncan and Annie (Murray) McIntosh on a country dirt road, attended a one room school house and did homework beside a kerosene lamp, dreaming and determined to be a teacher and live under city lights. By 1935 she graduated from Normal School in Fredericton, teaching in Tabusintac, Emmerson, Smiths Corner and Bryant's Corner; and by 1944 living under the city lights of Moncton. Her two favourite inventions were the telephone and a shopping center, she never tired of either. She just loved life and lived it every day. She wanted her love expressed to everyone she knew that made her life so fulfilling, family, friends and the students she taught at Uplands, Victoria and Bessborough schools in Moncton. She said she has remembered every one of them throughout her life. She travelled, was a member with her husband Earl at Moncton Antique Car Club. At Peoples Park Tower she was a volunteer, loved bingo, bus trips and attending church. She has been a member of The Wesley Memorial United Church since 1944. She will be sadly missed by her 2 daughters, Edna Thompson (William Woodhouse) and Frances (Arnold) Hansen both of Bass River, NB, one son Willard "Bill" Thompson, Salisbury, NB, 9 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, an only sister Mildred (Thomas) Brunton, New Westminster, BC, and youngest brother Herman (Sally) MacIntosh, Moncton. Her other three brothers Roy (Winnie), Walter (Frances) and Murray (Eleanor) predeceased her. A memorial service "celebration of her life" will be held at Fair Haven Funeral home on Thursday, September 4th 2008, at 2:00 pm, Rev. Dr. Phillip Griffin-Allwood officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Garden View Reception room of the funeral home. In Kathryn's memory, donations to the St. Andrews United Church, Tabusintac, NB, would be appreciated.
