Donald A. McCabe
Donald A. McCabe 1935-2008 Donald McCabe passed away at The Moncton Hospital on Sunday, September 14th 2008. Born in Houghton Center, ON. September 27th 1935, he was the son of the late Patrick Alfred and Mary Alice (Matthews) McCabe. He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Joan (Axford) McCabe; son, Brad (Cathy); daughter, Sherri; grandchildren, Shane, Trevor and Codey; brother, Rick; sisters, Hilda Napman, Margaret Dicy, Florence Gaze, & Wanda Doucette; as well as, many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Arnold. Don worked in the construction industry in ON, NB and NS; 59 years in the Maritimes. Projects in NS were; IWK Hospital, Michelin Tire, Canada Cement, Dalhousie University Pathology Lab, Truro Agriculture College. NB projects; Campbelton Regional Hospital, Tracadie Hospital, DR. G. L. Dumont Hospital expansion, Molson Brewery; as well as schools, bridges and many others to numerous to mention. Don holds the Gold Seal Award in Project Management and he was inducted into the Motorsport Hall of Fame for his dedication to and with the sport of snowmobiling, and was an executive with SENBSA since its beginning. For many years he enjoyed hunting at a camp in the Cape Breton Highlands with his son and friends. It's said he knows every trail, brook and rabbit path in the Caledonia Mtns, and Cape Breton Highlands. He was member of the Canadian Construction Association and was a past member of the Chamber of Commerce. It's Don's wish that there would not be any services; however, the family will hold a "Celebration of Life" at a later date.
