Mona Joyce Hanson
Mona Joyce Hanson 1934 - 2008 Mona Joyce Hanson, formerly of Cole Avenue, Moncton, NB, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16th, 2008 at The Moncton Hospital after a lengthy illness. Born in Shubenacadie, NS. She was the daughter of the late Edward and Hilda (Harrison) Harnish. Mona leaves behind her two sons, Barry and David (Christine Burton); her beloved grandchild Shawn David Hanson, all of Moncton as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Mona was predeceased by her husband T.G. (Bud) Hanson in December 1988; four sisters, Verna, Edith, Helen, Gertrude and three brothers, Harold, John and Jim. She attended St. Phillips Anglican Church, Moncton, and was a member of the A.C.W. the Y Ladies Bowling Team, CN Pensioners Association and the North Liberal Party. Mona loved her summer weekends in Bass River at the family camp. She enjoyed those weekends visiting with friends and waiting for the boys to come back with fish to cook or a moose to show off. She was a fantastic cook who made the best homemade bread and biscuits. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation where Mona was so well cared for during the last 6 months by the wonderful and caring staff of the Geriatric Unit of 5200 and the Palliative Unit 3600. Many thanks to Dr. Javed and to Dr. Donald who Mona just adored. Honouring Mona's request, there will be no visitation. A memorial service will be celebrated in the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton (506) 852-3530 on Saturday, September 20th 2008 at 10:00 am. A reception for Mona's family and friends will follow the service in the Garden View Reception Room of the funeral home. Interment in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
