Harriet Rebecca Murray 1924-2008 The death of Harriet Rebecca Murray, 84, of Baie Verte occurred on Friday, September 26, 2008 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born in Baie Verte, she was the daughter of the late Stedman and Marion Goodwin. All her life, Harriet had been an active member of the St. James United Church, Baie Verte, its choir and the UCW. She was a member of the Baie Verte Seniors Club, an avid quilter, bowler, and card player. Most notably, she was known throughout for her cooking and especially her donuts. Harriet will be missed by one son, Carman of Baie Verte; one daughter, Karen of Toronto; two granddaughters, Blair, of Toronto, and Sydney-Ann of Cape Tormentine; a brother, Carmen Goodwin of Sackville; two brothers-in-law, James (Maxine) Murray and Kenneth (Evelyn) Murray, and one sister-in-law, May Doherty. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Hugh, and daughter, Donna. The remains have been entrusted into the care and supervision of Jones Funeral Home (Port Elgin, 538-2241) from where visitation will be held 2-4pm and 7-9pm on Sunday, September 28, 2008. A funeral service will be held from St. James United Church, Baie Verte, on Monday, September 29, 2008 at 2pm. William Drysdale DLM officiating. Following the service, Harriet will be laid to rest beside her husband in the Fernwood Cemetery.
