James R MacIntyre
James R MacIntyre 1937-2008 James "Jim" MacIntyre, 71, of Campbellton, NB passed away Sunday, October 12, 2008, at the Moncton Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer. Jim was one of nine children of the late E.J. "Ed" MacIntyre and A.L. "Loucille" (Chisholm) MacIntyre. He worked for the City of Campbellton for 35 years in many capacities, the last ten years as Director of Parks and Recreation. He had many passions in his life including family, the outdoors and hockey. Jim enjoyed salmon fishing on the Restigouche, hunting and his daily walk around Campbellton's Terry Fox Trail. One of his greatest loves was hockey in Campbellton where he played and coached for 25 years. Many of these teams won New Brunswick Championships and several went on to win Maritime Championships. He is a member of the Campbellton Sports Hall of Fame, both as a player and a coach. His presence will be missed in the "Coaches Corner" at future Civic Center hockey games. His greatest passion was his family, taking great pride in the accomplishments and deeds of his many nieces and nephews. He is survived by two sisters, Eva (Bud) Stewart of Dalhousie, NB, and Alsa Ferguson of Campbellton, NB; four brothers, twin brother Allie (Linda) of Fredericton, Al "Rusty" (Ellen) of Barrie, ON, Boyd (Carole) of St Catherines, ON, and Don (Sharon) of Sackville, NB; also many nieces and nephews, including one special niece, Phyllis Porter who cared for him on many of his trips to Moncton for treatments. Jim was predeceased by one brother, EA "Murph" (Vera) of Arnprior, ON; one sister, Ruby (Phil) Caron of Moncton, NB; and one nephew, Andrew Ferguson of Halifax, NS. There will be no visitation or funeral at Jim's request. A private graveside service will be held on November 8, 2008 followed by a public Memorial Reception (Celebration of his life) at the Campbellton Memorial Civic Center. Time 3pm.
