Father Arthur Gallant 1924 - 2008 Father Arthur Gallant, 84, of Dieppe, passed away on Friday, October 17th, 2008 at Résidence Notre-Dame-du-Sacré-Coeur, Dieppe, NB. Born in Acadieville, NB, he was the son of the late Alfred and the late Sylvina (née: Gallant) Gallant. He was ordained priest May 1st, 1951 in Acadieville, NB by Mgr. Norbert Robichaud. He was assistant priest: Ste-Anne de Kent; Bouctouche; Baie Ste-Anne; Ste-Marie de Kent; Richibouctou; Pointe-du-Chêne; chaplain for "Catholic Action"; parish priest: St-Louis de Kent; Bouctouche; St-Anselme; Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption and Scoudouc. He also devoted time to the diocese as Vicar General. After his retirement he continued to help in many parishes. Father Gallant is survived by one sister, Sylvina (Albert) Caissie of Rogersville; one brother, Léo (Hélène) of Rogersville; two sisters in law: Yvonne (David Caissie) of Rogersville and Osithe Gallant of Bouctouche as well as by several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his 2nd mother, Louise Richard and also by two brothers: Alyre and Lorenzo. Visitation will be held from the Chartersville Funeral Home, 363 Amirault Street, Dieppe, 857-1901, on Monday, October 20th, 2008 from 2 to 4 pm and from 7 to 9 pm. On Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 beginning at 1:30 pm at Cathédrale Notre-Dame-de-l'Assomption, Moncton from where the funeral mass will be celebrated at 3 pm. Interment in Notre-Dame du Calvaire Cemetery, Dieppe, NB. Donations to the Dr. Georges-L.
