Jan deWitte 1920 - 2008 The death of Jan deWitte, husband of Shirley, of Budd Lane, occurred at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, on Sunday October 26th, 2008. Born in Borselle, Netherlands, on June 15, 1920, he was the son of the late Geerard and Tonia deWitte. Jan had retired from C.N. Express in 1985 after many years of service. He was a member of the Victoria Gardens Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses, Champlain Street. In addition to his wife, Shirley, he is survived by his daughter Martina Alice deWitte of Toronto, step daughters Nancy Tingley (Chester) and Katherine Savoie both of Moncton, his son Peter deWitte of Dominion, Cape Breton, NS, two step sons Emil Jansen of North Bay, ON, and Laurie Bourgeois of Moncton, several grand children, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by Cookie and Biscuit his two dogs. In addition to his parents, Jan was predeceased by his first wife Greta Catherina in February, 1962, his son Geerard in September, 1997, his granddaughter Angelina in June, 2007, and his two sisters Jacoba and Fransien. Resting at Cadman Bowness Funeral Home (857-1110) 114 Alma Street Moncton visiting hours will be on Tuesday October 28th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. His funeral service, conducted by Robert Hicks, will be held on Wednesday, October 29th, at 2 pm in Cadman Bowness Funeral Home followed by a reception in the reception area of the funeral home. Interment will be in Fairhaven Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined, however, donations in Jan's memory made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of New Brunswick or the Alzheimer's Society would be appreciated by the family.
