
Issac F. (Scotty) Campbell
Issac F. (Scotty) Campbell 1924 - 2009 Miramichi - Issac Fox "Scotty" Campbell, husband of the late Helen Rigley, of Winnipeg Crescent, Miramichi Retirement Community, passed away peacefully, close to his adopted, but beloved Miramichi River, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, on Saturday evening, January 10, 2009, at the age of 84. He was truly an Officer and a Gentleman of the highest order. Born in Waterton, Aberdeenshire, Scotland on March 19, 1924, he was the son of the late James and Catherien (Fox) Campbell . Scotty was a retired officer and fighter pilot with the R.C.A.F. ; He served three terms - In wartime overseas (1942-45) regular service (1950-1972) and again in the reserve (1982-84) Many of his years in the service were spent on the Chatham base and he took up residence in the Miramichi area (White Rapids) following his retirement. Amongst his proudest accomplishments was flying the Canadian F-86 Saber. Of particular note was in participation in the Saber's final North American Fly Past in 1968. His years on the Miramichi were greatly enriched by nature, animals and fly fishing. He is survived by four sons; James R. Campbell, of Toronto, Ont., Thomas D. Campbell, of Vancouver, B.C., Robert M. Campbell, of Vancouver, B.C., Peter R. Campbell, of Toronto,. Ont.; two sisters, Katherine Connors, of Cambridge, Ont, Nel Reid, of Markahm, Ont.; one brother, Tom Campbell (Velma), of Gananoque, Ont.; step daughters Carole Gordon, of Barrie, Ont., Diane Rooney, of Toronto, Ont. as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen Rigley, in 2000; brothers Jimmy and Davey Campbell and sisters Esther and Agnes. The public are invited to attend a memorial service of Scotty's life to be held from Adams Funeral Home Chapel, on Thursday, January 15, 2009, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Dale Greer. Interment will be in Miramichi, later in the spring. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Palliative Care Unit of the Miramichi Regional Hospital, or any charity of the donors' choice, would be appreciated by the family.
