Byron William Savage The death of Mr. Byron William Savage husband of Marie (Kenny) Savage of Lower Newcastle, NB, occurred on Saturday, January 31, 2009 at the Miramichi Regional Hospital at the age of 95. Born in Lower Newcastle, NB, he was the son of the late James and Alice (Mahoney) Savage. Byron was a retired millwright foreman, he was a WWII veteran with the 24th Field Ambulance, R.C.A.S.C. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch # 3 and 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Bishop Hill Assembly. Besides his wife: Marie, Byron is survived by: two daughters: Marina Savoy (Graham) of Halifax, NS; Sandra Savage (Paul Graham) of Truro, NS; three sons: Kenneth (Betty Lou) of Fredericton, NB; Colie (Phyllis) of Miramichi, NB; Terry (Mary) of Miramichi, NB; four sisters: Marion Arsenault of Miramichi, NB; Kay Tozer (Donald) of Bathurst, NB; Ruby Johnston of Bartibog, NB; Lill Hill of Ontario; one brother: Robert of Lower Newcastle, NB; grandchildren: Shaun, Peter and Jason Savoy, Nicholas and Cameron Graham, Kelly Savage, Jennifer Walsh, Chris Savage, Tara Jardine and Jeff Savage; seven great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Byron is predeceased by: one infant daughter: Sandra Lee; one sister: Edna McIntyre and five brothers: Joseph, Percey, William, Laurence and Donald. The family received visitors at Bell's Funeral Home on Sunday, February 1, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Peter and St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church, Bartibog, NB, today at 11 AM with Father Allison Mahoney officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery later in the spring. In Byron's memory, donations may be made to a memorial of one's choice.
