Dr. Robert Marcoux

Dr. Robert Marcoux 1910 - 2009 Dr. Robert Marcoux, 99, of Moncton and formerly of Bouctouche has passed away at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital, Moncton on Wednesday February 4th, 2009. Married to the late Aline (Michaud) Marcoux (2005) he was born in Limoilou, Qc, on January 21st, 1910 to the late Joseph-Arthur and the late Régina (Gallant) Marcoux. Dr. Marcoux practiced medicine in Bouctouche for numerous years, and was the founder, along with his wife the late Aline Michaud, of the Stella Maris Hospital in Bouctouche in the early 1940's. In 1939 Dr. Dysart of Bouctouche wanted to join The Canadian Forces and needed a new doctor for Kent County. His wife to be Aline, then a registered nurse suggested that Dr. Dysart call Dr. Marcoux who was starting a practice on the Quebec North Shore to be his replacement and he accepted the offer straightaway. Doctor Marcoux thus began his 43 years in Bouctouche in this fashion. In 1952 he offered the Stella Maris Hospital to the nuns and this is how the Kent County hospital carried on after his move to Montreal. He leaves to mourn his four children, Monique Roggenkamp (Klaus) of Seattle, WA, Nicole Marcoux (Richard Duguay) of Riverview, Paul-Emile (Ginette) of Perth, Australia, Denis (Marie-Paule) of Montréal, six grandchildren, Frédérick, Alexandre, Angela, Marc, Patrick, Isabelle, four great grandchildren, Alexandre 11, Sophie, Monet, Riley, one brother, Paul of Mexico, one sister-in-law, Claire Marcoux of Québec, and several nephews and nieces. Dr. Marcoux was predeceased by two brothers René and Claude. Visitation will be held at the Maillet Funeral Home, 29 rue de l'église, Bouctouche, on Sunday February 8th, 2009 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9, Monday from 1 to 2 :45 pm. Funeral Mass will be held on Monday February 9th, 2009 at 3:00 pm. Internment will be in the parish cemetery in the spring. In Dr. Marcoux's memory donations can be made to the Children's Wish Foundation. Funeral arrangements are in the professional care of Maillet Funeral Home, Bouctouche.
