Eldon R. Connell 1932-2009 Miramichi - Eldon Raymond Connell, husband of Aletha (Lea) Connell, of Douglasfield Road, Miramichi, passed away at his residence, on Friday evening, February 6, 2009, at the age of 76, following a lengthy illness. Born in Douglasfield, on August 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Albert and Bernetta (Walsh) Connell. Eldon was a retired employee of the Lounsbury Co. Ltd., and held the position of Branch Manager of both the Newcastle and Chatham Branches of the Automotive Dept. , with 43 years of dedicated service. He was a member of St. Pauls Anglican Church, Miramichi; a former member of the Newcastle Lions Club; a former member of the Newcastle & Chatham Rotary Clubs; a former member of the Newcastle Chamber of Commerce. He was a member of the Miramichi Woodlot Owners Assoc. Eldon was an avid snowmobiler and a member of the Miramichi Snowmobile Club. He is survived by his wife, the former Aletha (Lea) Jardine; two daughters, Holly Gallant (Bill) and Gayle Trevors (Brian), all of Douglasfield; two grandchildren, Tara Trevors and Timothy Gallant; one great grandchild, Lauren Trevors; six sisters, Mae Stewart, of Douglasfield, Gladys Lynch, of Nowlanville, Molly Worrell (Bun), of Miramichi, Jean Godfrey (Bud), of Douglasfield, Joyce Johnston (Reginald), of Miramichi, Linda Shaddick (Winston), of Douglasfield; one sister in law, Lorna Connell; two brothers in law, Edward Shaddick and Patrick Foley. He was predeceased by three sisters, Audrey Beminster (Louis), Marilyn Shaddick and Shirley Foley; two brothers, Burton (Jean) and Douglas Connell (Norma). Visitation will be at Adams Funeral Home Ltd., 140 King St., Miramichi, on Sunday evening, from 7-9 pm and Monday, from 2-4 & 7-9 pm. The funeral service will be held from St. Pauls Anglican Church, Miramichi, on Tuesday, February 10, 2009, at 2 pm, conducted by Rev. Richard Steeves, assisted by Capt. Rose Steeves. Interment will be in St. Pauls Anglican Cemetery, later in the spring.
