Barney Cathcart

78, Port Morien It is with great sadness that we, the family announce the passing of Barney Glencross Cathcart, on Nov. 19, 2008, at the Glace Bay Health Care Facility, at the age of 78. Born in Port Morien, he was the son of the late David and Bessie (MacIntosh). Barney was employed with H H Hopkin and served in the Armed Forces Signal Corps. Barney is survived by two daughters, Jackie (Greg), Glace Bay, and Ruby (Ernie), Donkin; three sons, Brian, Keith (Nadine), Dominion, and Steward (Tanya), Glace Bay; three sisters, Annie (Gordon) Butts, Margaret (John Brown) and Ruth Acker; three brothers, David (Doris), Earl (June) and Dougie (Brenda). Barney is also survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Barney was predeceased by his wife, Jessie; son Wayne; sisters, Rita, June and Helen. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place, with a burial at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520.
