Thomas 'Tom' O'Dea
Passed on: November 12th, 2008
89, Sydney/Abbottsford, BC The family of Tom O'Dea, regret to announce his passing, November 12, 2008, at the age of 89 in Abbottsford, BC. Lead stoker on the merchants ships at the age of 15, Tom joined her Majesty's Royal Canadian Navy at the beginning of WWII and climbed the ranks to Petty Officer. Tom put his hand at and succeeded at many jobs in civilian life. His last job was as a mechanic for the Department of Motor Vehicles before his retirement to Pender Island, BC, to pursue his passion for fishing. Following a stroke in the 60's, Tom moved to Abbottsford, having to learn to walk and talk all over. Tom enjoyed many trips back home to Cape Breton reconnecting with old friends and family. During his extended life, Tom made friends from everywhere no matter where he went. Always entertaining with a story, a tale or a joke. Sadly missed by sister, Helen Assoun, Agnes Burke and brother Joe O'Dea.
