Floyd George Estabrooks
Floyd George Estabrooks 1925 - 2009 SACKVILLE - With heavy hearts, the family of Floyd George Estabrooks, age 83, announce his passing peacefully with his family by his side on Friday, March 6, 2009 at the Sackville Memorial Hospital. Born in Cookville, NB, he was a son of the late Russell and Laura (Ward) Estabrooks. Enlisting in the Canadian Army in June of 1944, he joined the Carlton York Regiment in France, regrouping into the North Shore Regiment in May of 1945 in Holland. He served with the German occupation until 1946. Floyd was a life member of the Sackville Branch # 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion, having served as president and currently serving as honourary past president. He retired from the CBC with 40 years of service in 1986. He was a member of the Sackville Seniors Club. An avid hunter, he enjoyed his camp in Fairfield and CB campouts and camping at Cape Tormentine. The best husband and Dad we could have had he will be long remembered and sadly missed by his beloved wife of 61 years, the former Florence Fillmore; his three children, Larry (Helen) Estabrooks, Sherry (Peter) Richard and Kim (Damien) Monk, all of Sackville; nine grandchildren, Chris (Kristee), Aaron (Kelly), Nick (Alana), Paul, Jonathan, Marc (Cynthia), Sara (Josh), Jarod and Jaden; two great grandchildren, Taylor and Dylan; a loving sister, Shirley (Raymond) Chrvala; also a sister-in-law Charlotte Estabrooks, brother-in-law, Thomas Fillmore; sister-in-law, Margaret Thompson and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a daughter, Barbara, brothers, Donald, Carman and Glynn Estabrooks. Floyd's remains are resting at the Jones Funeral Home, Bridge Street, Sackville (364-1300) with funeral service on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 2 pm, preceeded by the Sackville Branch # 26 of the Royal Canadian Legion memorial service at 1:30, Chaplin Alan Sears officiating. Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation at the funeral home on Monday, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Burial in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring.
