Waldo York Leeman June 11, 1919 March 8, 2009 On Sunday, March 8, 2009 Waldo "Wally" passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at the Kiwanis Nursing Home, Sussex, NB, with his daughter Pat at his side. Dad is survived by his children Patricia (her husband Snooks), David (his wife June) and Wayne (his partner Mary-Helen); grandchildren Troy, Adam, Lisa, Michael, Heather and Mark; great grandchildren Hunter, Alex, Nick, Jeff Colin, Logan and Allie; niece Linda; and companion Madge Colpitts. He was predeceased by Alleyne Edna Cogswell, his wife of 47 years, and his brother Wallace Wright Leeman. Dad was born at Salisbury, NB, was the son of Fred and Georgia Leeman and was educated at Cherryvale Rural School and Salisbury High School. He was a member of the New Brunswick Regimental Band (1933 to 1936) and served with the Non-Permanent Militia (1936 to 1939) and Canadian Active Army (1939 to 1944) receiving the Efficiency Decoration. Dad was a member of various Masonic Orders including but not limited to the Salisbury Lodge, the Royal Arch Chapter of Saint John, the Royal Arch Chapter of Houlton (Maine, USA), the Saint John Council of Royal and Select Masters, the High Priesthood of New Brunswick and Lord Beaverbrook Chapter. He served as Head of the Grand Chapter of New Brunswick Royal Arch Masons (1962) and Head of the Grand Council of Royal and Select Masters of Eastern Canada (1959 and 1960). He was a Council Member of the Village and Town of Hampton (1971 to 1977). Dad was employed by McLarens Foods as a food broker working throughout New Brunswick. He played baseball for the Hampton Indians, enjoyed camping and fishing, and liked to curl and play bridge. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to all the staff at the Kiwanis Nursing Home for their kind and respectful care of our father. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Waldo's name to the charity of one's choice or The War Amputations of Canada. A memorial service of our Dad's life will take place at a future time.
