Phyllis Steele
Phyllis Steele 1935 - 2009 Phyllis Steele, 73, of Hillsborough passed away peacefully on March 15, 2009 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont Hospital. Phyllis was born in Edgett's Landing on April 27, 1935 the daughter of the late William and Evangeline (Milton) O'Connor. Phyllis worked in her earlier years as a telephone operator, then worked at Duffy's Store , T. Eaton Company and last worked at Ford's Pharmacy in Hillsborough. Phyllis would serve everyone with her big smile. She enjoyed reading, bingo and playing bridge. Phyllis was also known for her cooking abilities and always made lots to go around, whoever in the community that may be in need of a good homemade meal she made sure they got it. She was a cherished wife, mother and nanny. Phyllis was a very special lady who will live on in the hearts of her family forever. She will be deeply missed by her beloved husband, Leslie ; daughter, Pamela Steele (Paul Roy) of Moncton; son, Phillip Steele of Halifax; daughter-in-law, Bonnie (Woodworth) Steele of Hopewell Hill; her precious grandchildren, Tyler, David and Michael; great grandsons, James and Connor; sisters, Georgie Tower of Hillsborough and Effie Poshtar (Steve) of Hamilton, Ont.; brothers, King O'Connor (Helen), Curtis O'Connor (Joey) and Joe O'Connor (Ruby) all of Riverview. She will also be missed by several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her son, Leslie David Steele IV ; sisters, Mary, Edna, Marie and Della; brothers, Robert, Doyle and Phillip. The family will be having private viewing. A Memorial Service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 17th, 2009 at 2:00pm with Rev. Dean MacDonald officiating. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends at the funeral home for further sharing of memories and for refreshments. Interment will be held in the Grey's Island Cemetery, Hillsborough at a later date. For those who wish donations to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by the family.
