Delbert Leslie Hawkes

Delbert Leslie Hawkes 1951 - 2009 Delbert Leslie Hawkes, 57, of Moncton passed away peacefully on March 22, 2009 at the Moncton Hospital. Delbert was born in Riverside, Albert County,N.B. on November 19, 1951, the son of the late Vance and Greta (Killam) Hawkes. He last worked at MINACS as a Customer Service Representative. He attended the First Church of the Nazarene. Delbert loved the outdoors and spent a lot of time on his four wheeler and hunting, he was at peace with nature. He had a special place in his heart for dogs as well, he was very fond of his latest pup, Storm. Delbert enjoyed traveling, driving all over Canada and the United States. He was known for his great cooking abilities and always had the request of his famous chocolate cake and boiled icing, which he was always pleased to fulfill. He was also known for having a great sense of humour, he loved to torment and tease and enjoyed laughing with his family and friends. He was a great guy who will live on in the memory of all his loved ones forever. He will be deeply missed by his common-law wife, Martha (Butland) Turner; his three daughters, Tasha Hawkes of Riverview, Julie Hawkes and Jodie Hawkes both of Moncton; his cherished granddaughter, Jasmine; also by Tim Brine who was like an adopted son to Delbert; his one sister, Marjorie Spicer (Willis) of Moncton; three brothers, Weldon Hawkes (Alfretta) of Moncton, Douglas Hawkes (Juanita) of Riverside-Albert and Robert Hawkes (Janet) of Kitchener,Ont.; also by several nieces and nephews. He will also be sadly missed by all of Martha's family. Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant grandson, Jordan Young; half-sisters, Marlene Mercure (Vincent) and Gladys Tower (Wallace). He will be resting at the Albert County Funeral Home with visitation on Monday evening, March 23rd, from 7 to 9pm. The Funeral Service will be held at the Albert County Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 24th, 2009 at 2:00pm with Rev. Gary L. Cowper officiating. Following the service the family will be meeting with relatives and friends for further sharing of memories and for refreshments at the funeral home. Interment will be held at a later date. For those who wish donations to the Canadian Cancer Society , Friends of the Moncton Hospital or to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
