Olive Letcher
84, Sydney It is with deep sorrow that we, her daughters, announce the sudden passing of our dear mother, Olive Roberta Letcher, 84. She was a resident of Williston House, Sydney. Her death occurred after a short illness at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, on Sunday, Nov. 23, 2008. She is now reunited with her darling, Ted, who predeceased her on Oct. 1, 2002. She was born in Victoria, B.C., the treasured daughter of the late Robert J. and Mary (Williams) Crozier-Smith. Olive is survived by her daughters, Linda (Bill) MacNeil and Karen (Roy) MacDonald, Sydney; grandchildren, Lori (Neil) Bates, Timberlea, Karen (David) MacGillivary, Hammonds Plains, Kim (Jeff) Brown, North Sydney; Jennifer (Jeff) Donovan, Stratford, P.E.I., Melissa MacDonald, Ottawa, and Mark MacDonald, Fort McMurray; six great-grandchildren, Ceilidh, Ryan and Breagh Bates, Nicholas Gordon and Patrick and Liam MacGillivary; brother, Jack (Lillian) Crozier-Smith, Victoria, B.C.; sisters-in-law, Irene Letcher and Betty (Letcher) Romard; brother-in-law, Walter (Phyllis) Letcher; dear friend and brother-in-law, Arthur Letcher and several nieces and nephews. Mom was known as 'Bobbie' to family and friends. She was predeceased by her loving and devoted husband of 59 years, William Edward 'Ted' Letcher and special friend and sister-in-law, Theresa Letcher, brothers-in-law, Dan and Frank Letcher. At our mother's request, there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. A family graveside service will be held at Alfred Smith Memorial Cemetery, Sydney Forks, Dec. 2, 2008. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton, PO Box 561, Sydney, N.S., B1P 6H4, or a charity of one's choice.
