Burton C. Reid 1923 - 2009 Sackville - Burton C. Reid, age 85, of Sackville, passed away at the Sackville Memorial Hospital on Monday, April 6, 2009 following complications from a stroke. Born in Westcock, NB, he was a son of the late Charles and Hazel (King) Reid. A long time Sackville resident and entrepreneur, land developer and home builder (Silver Lake Subdivision), Burton was the owner of Reid Discount Plumbing and Heating, Texaco Home Heating Oil and Propane Gas and Tantramar Homes Ltd. Burt was a veteran of World War II and served with the RCAF. He was a former member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Cumberland Association and was a Charter Member and past president of The Sackville Lions International. Burt will be sadly missed by a son Robert (Diane White), Belleville, ON, five grandchildren, Gregory, Alana, Raquel, Andrew and Nathan; seven great grandchildren; a brother, Otis of Sackville; and sister Marie Buck, Hamilton, ON. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife June Buffitt, sister Clementina (Clemie) Allen and brother Bill Reid. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Jones Funeral Home, 70 Bridge St., Sackville, NB (506-364-1300). At the request of the deceased, there is to be no visitation and a private family service will be held at a later date. Burial will take place in the Sackville Cemetery in the spring.
