Randall "Randy" R. Hopper

Randall "Randy" R. Hopper 1923 - 2009 Randall "Randy" R. Hopper 85, of Moncton, with his family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Sackville Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, April 7, 2009. Born in Colpitts Settlement, he was the son of the late Whitmore and Etta (Bannister) Hopper. Randy was formerly employed with Fred Colpitts Farm, Colpitts Settlement, Sunrise Dairy, Moncton and retired from the CNR with 31 years service. He was a faithful and active member of Mountain View United Church, former Choir member, Elder, Greeter and served his church in various other capacities. Randy was well known as a crosswalk guard at Beaverbrook School on Mountain Road and in his honor, "The Randy Hopper Park" was dedicated in his name next to Beaverbrook School. He was a member of the CN Pensioners Association and the recipient of the Paul Harris Award by the Moncton West Riverview Rotary Club. His greatest hobbies were his family and people. Randy will be sadly missed by his children, Dwight (Glendine), Moncton, Myra Leger, River Glade, Rodney (Linda), Moncton, Krista Fall (Stephen), Berry Mills; grandchildren, Steven, Scott, Shawn, Rick, Danny, Angie, Erika, Meghan, Ryan, Breanna; seven great grandchildren; brother, Wendell (Juanita), Colpitts Settlement; sisters, Alberta Hopper, Riverview, Rita Geldart (late Holly), Little River, Esther Elliott (late Walter), Colpitts Settlement; sister-in-law, Peggy Hopper, Little River; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, predeceased by his wife, Ruth (Colpitts) Hopper (1996); brothers, Ottie, Roy. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Thursday, 2 to 4, 7 to 9 pm. Funeral service, Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Friday, April 10, 2009, 1:30 pm, Rev. Mary Anningson officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Colpitts Settlement Cemetery.
