Ivy E. MacDonald

Ivy E. MacDonald 1926 - 2009 It is with great sadness that the family of Ivy E. MacDonald, 83, announce her passing at her residence on Tuesday, April 14th, 2009 after a long and determined 15 year battle with A.L.S. Born and educated in England, she immigrated to Canada in 1946 to join her beloved husband, a Canadian soldier, Bill MacDonald who predeceased her in 2006 after 61 years of marriage. Ivy had a love for life, her family and her many friends. She enjoyed her career as a credit manager at Sears for almost 30 years, then in retail at Freckles and The Wedding Boutique, and finally as "Mrs. Tetley". She was very much a people-person and hosted many parties and dinners. She helped organize the Moncton War Brides' Club and was president for many years. With her elegant style in clothes, fashioned and sewn by her, and her striking hair-do she was always "a beautiful lady" to her family, friends and strangers. She will be deeply missed by her twin daughters, Margaret (Lorne) Crawford, Anne (Doug) James; her grandchildren Leslie-Anne, Jeffrey, Jennifer, Kimberly and Susan; her great grandchildren Cameron, Olivia, Julie-Anne and Madelyne; her brother David (Mary) Burton and nieces Pam and Sandie all of England; her nephew Glendon (Marlene) LeLacheur and family. A funeral service was held at the Chapel of Fair Haven Funeral Home on Friday, April 17th, 2009 at 1pm. Interment in Fairhaven Memorial Gardens. Memorial donations in Ivy's memory may be made to A.L.S. Society or to the charity of the donor's choice. Sincere thanks and appreciation to care-givers, Bev, Stacey, Aline, Kathryn, Kim, Alicia, Nancy, Carol, Rose-Marie, Lesley, Lise, Debbie and Janet; to all the nurses and staff of Extra-Mural; and to Dr. Sheehan and Dr. Mansfield. Your compassion and fine care will always be remembered. Arrangements entrusted to the professional care of Fair Haven Funeral Home, 1177 Salisbury Road, Moncton (506) 852-3530.
