Verna Simms

Verna Simms 1921 - 2009 Verna Simms (Toole), 87, of High St., Moncton, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Friday, April 24, 2009. Born in Rexton, she was the daughter of the late Henry E. and Grace (Smith) Toole. She studied at Oulton's Business College where she received a diploma in comptometer and was an employee of the T. Eaton Company, Moncton. Verna also held various positions during provincial elections. She attended and was a member of First Baptist Church, Moncton and later her membership was transferred to the Calhoun United Baptist Church (1939), Calhoun. She was a member of the Calhoun Baptist Missionary Society (A.B.W.) and the Calhoun Women's Institute. Verna also enjoyed playing cards with her many friends. Verna is survived by sisters-in-law, Eileen F. Toole, Calhoun, Frances Falls, Crapeau, PEI, Marmie Simms, Fredericton; brother-in-law, Kenneth Duke, Moncton; several nieces and nephews throughout the Maritimes; special friends, Alderic and Yvonne McCaie, Pat and Oscar Gallant, Moncton. In addition to her parents, Verna was predeceased by her husband Neil in 1963; sisters, Rachel Lewis, Mildred Duke and Hazel Lewis; brothers, Francis, Vincent and Frederick Toole, and special friend, Jerry LeBlanc. No visitation by personal request. Funeral service, Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Tuesday, April 28, 2009, 11:00 am, Rev. Dr. Richard Jackson officiating.
