Herbie "Herb" J. Amero 1923 - 2009 Herbie "Herb" J. Amero, 85, of Moncton, with his loving family at his side, passed away peacefully at The Moncton Hospital on Thursday, April 30th, 2009 following a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Plympton, NS, he was the son of the late Fred and Bessie (Bunker) Amero. Herb was a retired Supervisor, Engineering Department, City of Moncton (15 years service), member of Harrisville United Protestant Church and former Church Elder. He was a member and Past Master of Zetland Lodge #24, F & AM Shediac, member of the Lodge of Perfection and Britton Rose Croix, member of Luxor Shrine Temple, Saint John and the Moncton Shrine Club, member and Past Patron of Zetland Chapter #26 O.E.S., Shediac, member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Moncton Branch #6 and former member of the Moncton Curlers Association. He was a Veteran of WWII, served overseas in London, Holland, Belgium and Germany with the Canadian Army Fort Garry Horse Tank Corps (three years service). In past years, he enjoyed curling, gardening, was very much an outdoors person, enjoyed going to Lodge and spending quality time with his family and friends. Herb will be sadly missed by his wife of 60 years, Anna (McGrath); sons, Michael (Kathy), Peter (Marlene), both of Moncton; grandchildren, Tina and Jason; sisters, Myrtle Comeau (Henry), Montreal, Helen Melanson (Chester), Digby, NS; several nieces and nephews and his special "furry friends", Carly and T.J. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by an infant daughter. Visitation at Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995), Sunday, 7 to 9 pm. Moncton Legion Veterans Memorial Service, 6:00 pm, Sunday; Zetland Lodge #26 F &AM Memorial Service, Sunday, 6:45 pm. Funeral Service, Ferguson Knowles Funeral Home Chapel, Monday, May 4th, 2009, 1:30 pm, Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Reception following the service. Interment, Fair Haven Memorial Gardens.
