J. Alban Melanson
J. Alban Melanson 1918 - 2009 J. Alban Melanson, 90, of Villa Providence, Shediac, formerly of Leslie Street, Moncton, passed away on Tuesday, May 26, 2009 at the Villa surrounded by his loving family at his side. Born August 11, 1918 in Scoudouc, he was the son of the late Edmond S. Melanson and Elmire Melanson. He was a train conductor with CN with over 38 years service. He was also a life member of U.T.U. Local 304, a 3rd degree member of Knights of Columbus Council 1310, and a veteran of W.W. 2 having served with the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corp. 1942-1945. A kind, caring, and loving father, grandfather, and friend, he will be sadly missed by his six children: Rose Murphy (Jim) of Scoudouc, Maurice (Annette), Jean-Paul (Claudette) Phyllis Maillet (Fernand) all of Moncton, Normand (Adrienne) and Suzanne Fougere (Don) both of Dieppe; ten grandchildren: Michel Melanson, Nicole Belliveau, Marc Melanson, Denis Melanson, Monique Melanson, Tim Maillet, Michel Maillet, André Melanson, Annie Melanson, Natalie Fougere; four great-grandchildren: Danielle, Joshua, Noah, and Meghan; his step-children: Marie MacKenzie (Winston) of Moncton, Nadine LeBlanc (Randy) of Woodstock, and Freddy Martin (Caroline) of Summerside. He is predeceased by his first wife, Lucienne (Belliveau) in 1975, his second, Yvonne (Babin) Martin in 2007; his brothers and sister: Alcide, Arsène, Elda; an infant son, Francis. Resting at Frenette's Funeral Home, 88 Church Street, Moncton (858-1900). The funeral mass will be celebrated at Christ-Roi Roman Catholic Church, Dominion Street, Moncton, on Thursday, May 28 at 11 a.m. Interment will be in Our Lady of Calvary Cemetery, Dieppe. Visiting hours Wednesday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday morning from 10 until departure (10:45).
