81, Glace Bay It is with deepest sorrow that we, the family of William Edward 'Willie Lobster' McLean announce his sudden passing on Nov. 26, 2008, in his 81st year. Born in Glace Bay, May 31, 1927, he was the son of the late Alex and Elizabeth (Winstanley) McLean. He was a longtime resident of the Hub. Willie was employed by the Cape Breton Development Corp. for 32 years until his retirement. In his early years he was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Willie was an active member of the Hub Amateur Athletic Club where he had held various office positions and also Branch 3, Royal Canadian Legion. Willie loved sports, fishing and darts but his greatest love was his family. He is survived by his children, Bill Jr. and Colleen, Catalone, David and Helen, Glace Bay, Sandy and Lisa, London, Ont., Jonna and Les Gillis, New Waterford, and Vernon and Eileen, Glace Bay. He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren, Todd, Jamie, Sandie, Ronnie, Danny, Chynna Rae, Krayton, Mathew, Kyle, Trevor and Stephanie and by seven great-grandchildren. Also surviving are siblings, Beatrice (Peter) Confiant, Dorothy (Sis) McLean, Albert (Lois), Melvin (Nancy), Jeannie Gillis, Robert (Joanie) and Tootsie (Dave Edwards); and his former wife, Martha (Verge). Willie was predeceased by a brother, Joe. Willie will also be sadly missed by his extended family, the residents of 55 Minto St. Visitation for the late William McLean will take place at Patten Funeral Home, 71 Union St., Glace Bay, 849-7520, Friday, Nov. 28, 2008, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held Saturday, Nov. 29, 2008, at 10 a.m. at St. John's Church.
